Okay so I am getting all of the parts together to do this clutch swap on my 63 Polara (1969 440 w/ an A833 date coded June 21, 1969 23-spline) and I am having some trouble with the clutch release bearing selection. I put the car on the lift at work and got some numbers off of the bearing that is currently on the transmission and that number is 614036. I googled that number and sure enough it comes up as a Timken bearing number. I went on oreillyauto.com and typed the number in and BOOM there it was, and I clicked on the "application" button and it says this particular bearing is for a Cordoba with a slant 6! This is my daily driver so I can't just pull it apart and measure everything, and I dont want to just start ordering stuff and have it be wrong. Is there ANY way to tell what throwout bearing I will need without taking things apart? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Jon

I have a 1969 833 behind the bigblock in my '65. I used the flywheel, bellhousing, linkage, and all of the clutch parts, including the throwout bearing, for the '65 bigblock setup.

I didn't know cordoba's came with slant six manual trans combo. You should be able to just get a bearing for a 69 4 speed car that matches your clutch.

It's important to have the throwout bearing match the clutch fork. If you have a mis-match of parts, you're asking for trouble. I'm sure that you have already modified the trans crossmember for the '69 mounting and replaced the speedo cable and housing. Brewer's in Ohio can answer any 4 speed questions for you.

The throwout bear should also come with a good clutch kit, and installation tool. Ive had excellant luck with Zoom Clutches.
Anyway forget the numbers you find on anything thats in the car, just get everything that matches

I am not aware of more than two different TO bearings for the 833 - at least for the 60's cars. 23 spline and 18 spline. I have a couple of three speeds from 1970 cars and even the front bearing retainer looks the same as the 23 spline 833.
