Clutch options

I really wanted to take Wookies advice on that one, looks like a great setup. Hopefully I don't end up regretting it but I think you just bought some insurance that you won't have clutch issues.

I had a single disk to start with and there is no comparison between the single and the dual. Pedal effort with the twin was like a modern car. As good if not better than my wife's newer mustang.
Internal hydraulic bearings on the other hand I'm not a big fan of. If you can use a fork and hydraulic slave I Recomend going that way for sure.

The TKO had a 650 ft lbs rated single disc setup (don't know the make) and I wouldn't really want a lighter pedal than it had??? Wonder if the internal hydraulic made it easier? As for the Internal hydraulic setup, external is not an option with the Viper setup, Curious to why you don't like them? I know external ones are easier to maintain but I can pull one of these(at least the TKO) in 30 minutes pretty easily so that really doesn't concern me plus all manufactures are going this way with no problems. Thanks again Wookie, I have a while so if funds free up maybe I'll step up to one?

What tranny are you running behind your 400/511 Wookie and do you have the RST or the RXT? (come to think of it do I recall you went back to the 727?)

I just installed a Centerforce Dual Friction...I'll have to wait till spring to try it out. Then I have to put 500 miles on it before hard driving :angry1:

The minumum comparible Centreforce was double the price of the McLeod so that made the decision pretty easy for me. They're a great clutch though, proven and stoodby so I'm sure you'll be plenty happy! Did this go in your Pro-Touring Cuda?

I'm hoping that's the case! :)

I had and still have sitting in the corner a TKO 600 with the goofy shifter out the back. Actually it shifted ok considering the setup. I didn't seem to have the 2nd-3rd shift issue many complain about. I was using the RST, but if you have lots of power I would for sure jump to the RXT for the punishment.
However the design of the shifter only allows the slip yoke to sit in tranny so far or you hit it in 1st, 3rd or Rev because the rod moves back in those gears and hangs over the end of the tranny not allowing yoke to sit where it needs to be.

I did go back/ well I am in the process of fitting a 727 in. A TKO600 is not a bolt in like they say. At least in a newer B body it isn't. The white chalk out line shows what has to be cut and lifted as I estimate after a 727 test fit that the tail of my TKO needs to go up a least an 1 1/2" to have the right angle for the driveline.
I loved the OD in the TKO, but at this point I am not prepared or wanting to lift that much turf in the tunnel to make it fit. So the 727 gets the nod till I figure things out.

I found the internal hydraulic bearing to be very finicky. Clutch worked fine when the car was still cool, once it warmed up, the release/engage was right at the top of travel. Spoke with McLeod many times about this since it was their clutch and bearing. They told me to run EX600 Wilwood fluid and use heat wrap on supply line because they figured it was a boiling fluid issue. If it helped, it was marginal at best. So with the issues I had with the system I'd like to think an external slave may be a better option?

Hope this helps guys?

Hwy Wookie316 . . . after seeing your shifter setup, I thought I'd throw this in - this is the shifter attachment that came out of a 2012 Challenger - notice how far back behind the transmission the shifter is actually located . . .

Just kinda interesting . . .
