Is it really necessary to have the coil pick up welded onto the bracket like in my picture?

I just put the new one one and it is a pretty snug fit. It isn't going to just vibrate around and change position. I am not making any plans to go have it spot welded as of now.

One advantage I learned to having it welded is that it is one less thing to worry about adjusting when you set the gap. I had my gap set, but then as I tightened down the screw it moved the pick up, so I had to move it back until I had the proper gap.

Thats the first time i ever seen one welded.
