Fresh build big block with lunati Hydraulic Rollers, the #8 cyllinder exhust lifter didnt pump up all the way. Anyone have any idea why? is it more likely a factory defect or an oiling problem? Any way to tell by taking the lifter apart?

If you still have it together and running, try a quart of transmission fluid in the crankcase. That's magical stuff. It may have a piece of trach or something in the lifter and a LOT of times transmission fluid will help clean it out. It won't hurt a thing.

I'm a huge fan of marvel mystery oil for lifter issues...

Yes sir! It works good too. And get this......stupid a name as it is, I REALLY like Sea Foam. That stuff works good at cleanin fuel systems.

I'm tearing down the engine because the block is cracked. I'm pretty sure Discount Performance or Lunati will replace the lifter, but I really was curious about why this happened. hopefully not an oil issue. I'm changing blocks but other than a high volume pump, no oiling mods were done.
