Column shifter with headers

Hi guys, I put long tube 5901 headers in my 340/904 satellite. It's a column shift car so I followed the instructions on how to flip around, cut and weld the original brackets as well as the torsion bar from the steering column. It is probably user error but this thing does not want to go into park and will only do so with a little bit of finesse. How can I fix this? Thanks
