Considering sellling 72 Charger originally 318 bit 440 now

I'm just testing out the waters to see the interest in my 72 Charger. It is plum crazy with black srtipes. Has a 440 4bbl and 727 installed now. No rust anywhere, all black interior is imacilate bit does have aftermarket tache and aftermarket stereo in dash ( no extra holes for speakers). Paint is shiny with very few rock chips. Someone closed the hood on the air filter at some point and there is a couple cracks on the roof paint. Trim is all there. Everything works and runs amazing.

The last appraisal I have is 10 years old for 18,900. I'm not completely sure what it's worth now.

I have a 73 Charger that have a 360 bored 30 over with a tci trans a crane 272 cam edelbrock heads rpm intake a 750 holly carb a 2000 stall convertor and 323 pos. rearend gears, the car looks good no dents good interior carpet and headliner. I have been offered $6,0000 for it.What they are worth I have no ideal I guess it all depends on how much someone is willing to pay.these cars are not worth what the early chargers are worth so there is no way to gage it's true worth.

I was just searching cars listed on www.autabuy.com
see 71-74's listed from $5,500 to $33,000
{IMHO the latter higher prices was completely unrealistic, unless it's a real R/T or Real six-pack or well optioned near perfect low mileage or 1000pt restoration, OE #'s matching BB car, not a 318ci car or converted BB car}
some have been there for a long time too or have been relisted

An asking price isn't representative of actual sale price thou,
It's unfortunately not 2005-2007 peak of the market for sellers anymore
{that depends on if your a buyer or seller I guess},
the collector car market, especially for Mopars & the economy was booming...
when the much higher asking prices, were much easier to get...

that site may not reflect true market either,
it's just one of many examples

There's a glut of 71-74 Chargers on the market right now, so it's not a good time to sell. These trends to be cyclical in nature and in six months your car might be the only one on the market and there will be 68-70 Roadrunners everywhere.

I would say you last estimate is about twice what they're selling for today.

I'm very familiar with this style charger and with only seeing the two pics I'd put a price of $12000-$13500 I just sold a 72 not to long ago for 14k and then a bunch of them started showing up so wait a bit and you might be able to get a little more but probably not much more beings it's

Thanks for the replies. Two years ago I was offers 16k. Damn it guess I should have considered that offer more seriously. Sounds like waiting a few months may be in order. Its just so frustrating having it take up so much room just sitting there not being driven.

I'd say around 15K. We just sold a 71 R/T 4-spd Dana car for 40K

Try putting it on eBay and start it at the lowest you would take and see what happens if it doesn't sell no big deal it doesn't cost anything but I think $4.00 for more pictures.

The description of your car sounds like a weak #3 condition. It's only a hard top with non-numbers matching engine. Not sure if the dash was hacked up for radio install? Most cars at car shows are a #3. Old Cars Report Price Guide (sorry, mine is Sept/Oct 2013) lists your car at $7,740. This price guide is my bible when buying or selling cars.
