Anyone have some measurements on where the shifter and brackets go for an automatic center console ('67 Charger- I think any 66-70 B-body)? I have everything to convert to a floor shift (from column), but I'm a little uncertain about the location of the brackets. If all else fails, I'll just setup the hole in the floor for the shift shaft and work from that. But, I'd rather get it as close to factory as possible. Any help or pictures of a bare floor with brackets would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Doug

You will probabaly have more luck if you post this in the 66-67 Charger forum

I thought it would be more appropriate here since I think it's generic to most 66-70 B-bodies. But yeah, I could put it there too. Maybe the 66-70 B-body would be more appropriate too. Shame on me.

Let's see what we got here

The overall shots give you the gist of where to place the mount. The measurements were taken as a console reference rather than shifter location (p/w stands for pinch weld). This was a '68 Sport Satellite. I hope this helps.

I am going through the same thing. I replaced the full floor pan in my car and had to remove the console brackets and hump. I took measurements, but the original brackets were welded in so crooked that one of the rear screws wasn't even in the attaching slot. I decided I am going to set in the seats and then lay the console in and mark exactly where to weld in the brackets. This should give me a perfect fit. It still amazes me how crude these cars were put together in some areas.

Awesome! Thanks for the pics! This will make life much easier- though I still plan to "test fit" everything before committing to welding...

Good idea. I tried to go by photos when I did my current car and found that there's a lot of variation between cars. I think the most important thing is the correct positioning of the shaft that passes through the floor and down to the linkage. Make sure that it is straight up and down and use that as your reference to position everything else from.
