I am installing a new stereo in my 74 Plymouth and have hit a road block. With the ignition off I have power to every fuse in the block and cannot find anywhere to hook a switched wire. The radio plug is dead till I turn the igntion on which is fine but if I turn the key back to the acc position I get no power. I need to hook up the red wire to a switched source but I don't want to have to turn the full ignition on.
I have many splices under the dash looks like it was hacked pretty good at one time.
Thanks for any ideas.

Seems like I have tried them all. With the ignition off, I used a test light on the fuse block and every bay has constant power. I was planning on hooking the red switched power wire to the radio plug which works with the ignition on but doesn't when I flip the key back to ACC.
The amp gauge has been bypassed from what I can see just can figure out where the wires were hacked into.
The car runs and drives ok and I really don't want to tear everything apart, just need a way to hook the radio in so I don't have to turn it off manually all the time.

Exactly why I got a new harness for my Duster. Damn radio would "blip" when I stepped on the brake. Turned out there was a 30 AMP fuse in EVERY spot in the fuse box.

Spend the money. Start fresh.

I guess what I really need to know now is what the red wire from the relay should connect to in order to give me the ACC power. It must connect to a wire that feeds the ignition switch. It had been spliced intio the black but that doesn't work it still is still dead on the ACC.
Would it be the large gauge yellow/

With all the hacking that has come before there's no tellin what has been done, or what can be done to fix it. Besides the issue with the radio, my Duster wouldn't run unless the aftermarket ammeter was hooked up. So I had to bite the bullet. Eventually every piece of wiring in the car will be new.

Some people, turns out someone ran a 8 gauge jumper wire and tied the two harness together by-passing the ACC switch. Had them soldered into the same two factory welded splices.
Hey at least he soldered them *g*
If I ever see a 74 harness I think I will grab it. I swapped out the stock linear dash for a rallye dash and loaded them full of Auto Meter gauges...stupid thing is I didn't even notice the jumper he had put in.
At least all is right with the world again LOL
And my new stereo pounds really nice, my son wants one in his truck now LOL
Thanks again
