i don't know the correct name for it but it's the cover you put on over the folded down top. anyway, is there something i can put on it to make it more pliable. it is in nice shape but darn it's a major hassle to stretch it over all the snaps. actually i haven't been able to get more than 5-6 snaps done up starting from the interior back on both sides. thnx; rick

Convertible top boot, I also had serious problem with mine, those plastic hooks broke so I never used it.

It always helps to get it hot/warm first.........If you can't let it sit in the sun, use a hair dryer, heat lamp, etc.....and once it is warm, hot, etc....then it should stretch. Also use a vinyl conditioner cleaner on it...keeps it from drying out.
As for using the cover, well I have owned convertibles since 66 (my first car was a 59 Pontiac Convt.) and I learned early on that the best way to keep the winkles out of the top is to always put the top up when it is parked. So I do not even use the cover.....I put the top down when driving around from place to place then when I arrive at my destination I put the top up. That way it stays stretched (which keeps the wrinkles out so it looks nicer), keeps the sun away from the interior, also keeps other things from getting on the interior, bird crap, etc......
Hope this helps

X2 above.

The boot on my 69 GTS is a tight fit but it does go on, even cold. The vinyl is pliable, similar to new stock, and does stretch well. Perhaps your boot cover is no longer pliable or resembling fresh material? Take it off the car and set it in the sun to cook, then using a rubber glove, lather it up with Meguiars (or similar) and let it soak in. Perhaps after a few applications of the sauce it might spring back.

good one meeps and thanks. lol now do i put it on top of the snow or shovel a spot down to the grass.
sorry bud i had too. :laughing7:
looks like a next summer, late spring job. you 2 guy's solution is in my memory bank now. it's out of the trunk now and unfolded. i will give it a cleaning, put some sauce on it and hang it by the furnace. rotate once a month or so and wait till spring. the thing looks like the old guy hardly ever put it on, here's hoping. put the top up so its stretched, another good idea, thanks.
its my winter project so no big deal i have lots to do.

thanks again guy's. info like this is the reason i am here. :headbang:
