Converter ears need trimmed off.

I'm installing a powerglide trans behind a big block with a Ultra-Bell bellhousing and a "The Wheel" flexplate and unfortunately the 10" converter I got with the trans has a 11-1/2" circle pattern and the flexplate can only use one with a 10-3/4" pattern. The converter is drilled for both patters so I was wondering if the ears can be trimmed off and the balancer re-balanced to fit? I'd assume so but want more opinions before I attempt this. Thanks

Sounds like a lot of work. Maybe getting the correct flexplate would be cheaper?

The converter has 2 bolt patterns, one is the 10-3/4 and the other 11-1/2" The flexplate says it'll only work with the smaller pattern and the bigger would sit on the ring gear. It's the right plate since it came with the bellhousing. I guess the converter having both bolt patterns is the problem. This is the plate. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/jpt-93010c

This is from the instruction sheet, I guess this was a TH400 converter.....This system will accommodate 11" and smaller General Motors torque converters with a 10-3/4 bolt circle ONLY (TH350/PG). The 11-1/2 (TH400) bolt circles will not work. (The converter mounting ears will extend over the ring gear on the flywheel.)

sounds like it is not the correct converter. I would not modify it to work but thats just me.
