The roll bar in my Coronet will serve its purpose, intending on going to Englishtown when i'm bored. Running a 512 stroker motor, Dana, automatic. The roll bar will be covered with padding and wrapped with custom made covers for the padding. So the pipe look will be tamed a little, while serving it's intended use, to go racing if and when I decide.

I designed this 6 point cage with function and style in mind. It's attached at both front and rear torque boxes and the rear frame. Full use of rear seat. The rigidity is unreal. I will experience zero panel or window flex issues. I have already driven this think like I stole it for 600 miles and it still makes me shake after I power it through tight corners.... it's on rails and is has very predictable handling qualities.

I am nearing final touches building my 69 Coronet Convertible.. 505" aluminum heads, 6 Pack, automatic, air conditioning, power windows.. I did put subframe connectors but I like your roll bar set up. What did you make that from and can you send or post some more pictures? I will PM my info. Keep posting the pictures of your great project, Peter.

IMHO a chunky 6 pointer in a convertible would look great, the only question is satin black for the bars or body colour ? At least you wouldn't struggle to weld that bit at the top like normal....

As for the Mustang bar, per the ad: "THIS DECORATIVE BAR WILL NOT PROTECT OCCUPANTS IN THE EVENT OF A ROLLOVER, NO LIABILITY IS EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED". So much for cheap and easy...

69 CORONET CONVERTIBLE "tiger cage"

The main hoop is twin 1 5/8 DOM tube that has sheet metal fused on with a TIG welder. The front and rear touches are also 1 5/8 DOM. The lattice bracing is 1" DOM. The Cage is engineered to tie in all 4 torque boxes and the rear upper frame. All touches have ID tube clamps welded to 1/4" plate which is welded to the car. The rear touches have front and rear tube clamps so they can be removed to install the rear seat top and kick panels as well as to have the ability to remove the entire cage if so desired. This leaving only short stubs from the floor. Some mods were required on the kick panels to allow the main hoop tubes to be located where the ash tray was. The entire cage was TIG welded and fits very nice. This "TIGER CAGE" makes this Convertible like a 500 HP Go Kart.

The shape of the main hoop mirrors the shape of the windshield frame and disappears when viewing from the front or rear. I didn't want a cage that looked like it didn't belong in the car. Mission accomplished.
