I finally found a 340 type air cleaner with vacuum controlled air flap and single snorkel. I have always liked the look of it and found it a a great price. I restored it and even found someone on eBay that sells a 318 four barrel sticker for my engine. I thought the vacuum canisters were bad at first, but quickly realized that it was my mistake because I had it connected to ported vacuum. It should be connected to manifold vacuum.

Here’s my question. My engine now is set up to where the air breather is on the driver side and pcv on passenger side. The valve cover breather ideally needs to be on the passenger side to hook up to the air cleaner housing. Can I reverse the valve covers to correct this or will I create problems for myself?

The only thing that might change is the location of the tabs that bend around the engine harness. No big deal.

At worst drill the spot weld out holding the clip. Reweld to the other side. 10 minute job. Even if you don’t weld we all have that friend. I’m sure they are getting a coat of paint anyway.
