RC thanks ,I remeber back in the day ,alot of nice cars ,alot of visible gas pumps and some you don't see in some of the collections today there was a nice 55 nomad in there too ! thanks again :headbang: some where in my junk I've got my old money changer, use to use it to help my kids make the right change back in the day !
Love the shot of the multiple level parking garage and all the 50's era rides parked cleanly. Yet today, could you imagine the average yuk being able to squeeze one of Those rides into position with a three on the tree, manual steering and and manual brakes...oh, and no cupholders!
Man, that takes me back. Do you remember the gas wars they used to have back in the 50s and early 60s. The major oil companies used to drop their prices to try to drive the independents out of business. The lowest gas price I remember was 14 cents a gallon at a station in Boise Id. close to the town where I grew up. No wonder that I'm so nostalgic for those days.
Thanks Richard
Cool stuff, but how come those old pics are always pre muscle car era?Very seldom do you see any shots from the late 60s to early 70s.Here in small town USA those gas stations remained the same till the mid 80s when all the self serve quik marts started popping up.
Thanks for bringing back old memories. The stacked parking garage near the end was pretty interesting. Trying to figure out how they moved those in and out. Wonder if it was like an elevator?
It amazes me what the prices were and the gas stations were able to pay the gas attendants wage. Now the gas companies make record increases every year and we have to pump our own gas in a lot of states...... Hmmmmm. LOL!!!
I remember, many years ago, it was fun to go to a gas station. They were cool. It was the same with going to the Car Dealer. Now, it's just a chore; The Dream is gone.
Love the old garage pictures! reminds me of a better time, fun old days and a pocket book the normal size instead of a big one now a days for a full tank lol. Those are some great pictures in there! Thanks there Mr. Cranium!!
