Coooooooooooooooool road runner

hi guyz...as some of you know i been having cooling issues with my 70 383 road runner....so i just installed a new CHAMPION 3 core 26" radiator and a new water pump.

the car was running 250 after about an hour of driving...NOT GOOD...so i thought it might have a free spinning impeller on the water pump....it was fine but i put a new pump on anyway.

i installed the new champion all aluminum radiator ...it bolted right up... ..(250.00 with shipping )...new water pump....eliminated the fan shroud..( it wouldnt bolt to the new rad) ... took it out on the highway for an hour or so ....and get this....IT DIDNT GO ABOVE 160....amazing huh???

so those of you with cooling issues....GET A NEW RADIATOR. upon inspection of the old radiator...it looked like it was clogged up with these BARNACLE looking things..... no saving it except to get it re-cored.....i may do that eventually . hey....thanx for listenning !:headbang:

hahaha im the same way, D! im not guna let no machine get the better of me!!!

haven't really ventured into the water yet...at least not balls deep!!!! :upside down:

A re-core and a shroud did the trick for me. Tpodwdog;glad you got your issues fixed. After electrical gremlins,I hate cooling issues the worst.

Haha I paid $234 for mine ;) glad it worked mine has been flawless so far let's see what 10 years does lol

Did you put a thermostat back in it yet? You can run a stock shroud on it if you attach a couple pieces of alum "L" channel to it.

not yet 68...ill get a thermostat soon, i wanted to make sure i had it likked first. as far as the shroud goes...ill get to that also...i actually kinda like it with no shroud, but i know its better to have it! 160 is too cold....but its a hell of alot better than 250 and have to shut 'er down ! i was afraid to take it anyplace far away.
