Coronet leans to the left.

I have a 1966 Coronet 500 Convertible. When on flat ground, the car noticeably favors the left side. I have replaced the leaf springs and the shocks. Knowing it's a unibody, is it possible to have it "straightened"?

Not sure what wheels you have, but here's how I check for torsion bar "equalness." Using a measuring tape, I measure from the bottom of wheel center cap up to bottom of fender arc center, doing both sides. Both sides should be equal. If not, you will need to make adjustments to the torsion bar adjusting bolts that are in the lower control arms. The bolt head should be a 3/4 socket. Its best and easiest with the front end off the ground. Be sure to take measurements first. If I remember correctly, turning clockwise lowers the ride height, and counterclockwise increases ride height (somebody correct me if my directions are wrong).

I forgot to mention that it only leans from behind. I believe my mechanic who replaced the ball joints and such said he tried to adjust the torsion bars to try and resolve the problem. I'll double check.

Thanks.

How much is the left hand lean? what kind of leaf springs did you get?

Maybe you have a XHD spring set on the RR and a normal spring set on the LR? Is this something you noticed recently, or is it something that has been an issue for a while?

Or, it might be like my son's '76 Buick Skylark and you have a bent stubframe. His leans to the left front, and that is because the PO had a little accident with it. Even after having the frame straightened, it still leans that way.

Since you have a convertible, see what it looks like with the top up and top down. It's a stretch, but at worst, you might have a structural issue.
