I have a supposedly stock1969 383/330hp engine with a Holley carb. The Mopar listing does call out an R4440 Holley for a '69 838/at car. Also a 4616 Carter AVS. I have to replace the carb. How do I tell which one is correct, Carter or Holley? I can get both. I want to stay stock as the car is a very rare convertible. If this will help, it has a block off plate over the heat riser area that looks like it's been there from the start. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

It probably has the well for the choke-pull, but not the pull. A/C car?

The car is a 1969 Dodge Coronet 500 convertible. It has an H code 383, 330hp, 4bbl, dual exhaust, non a/c engine. With p/s, p/b, and automatic transmission.

Thanks for the information. I have the Mopar carb guide and it calls out 2 different carbs for the 383 non a/c. The Carter 4616 and the Holley R4440. And Mopar carb list serms to only show Carter carbs. No Holleys at all.

Sorry about the california question i thought it was for 69 too but evidently only 1970.

4638S AVS 1969 383/auto/LP, H51...AC
4616S AVS 1969 383/auto/LP non-A/C

Holley R4440 1969 383-4

Same info as you. The only cars I've seen of that vintage with Holley's on them, have had A/C. That's only been my past experience.

I would say your 4616s would be correct for Non A/C 383 330HP (LP)Automatic Coronet. 4711s is LP manual transmission. The Holley R4440 was available on all 69 models RWPDC, but not X, which is Charger. I personally never saw a Holley on the Coronet, but I did have one on the 69' Roadrunner with Factory A/C. There is one other, a 4682S, (HP)which was available on BLRWX, but since it Includes the 383 Barracuda Formulas S and Dart GTS, That wouldn't have been correct. it looks like the Roadrunner/Bee 335hp had that carb as well.I don't know why X is included in the book, maybe a misprint.
I hope that helps!

I have a 1969 Plymouth Belvedere with the H code 383 auto and no AC. The build sheet shows that it came with the Holley carb.

To smithchargers: Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about that. What number did you have for the Holley carb on the build sheet? Could you by chance send me a few pics of the carb, especially the passenger side and carb number? I'll give you my email address if you would like to do it that way. Thanks again.

I recently read an article recently about a Holley carb being used an a 1969 383/330hp B body with factory cruise control. Could the Holley R4440 be the carb with factory cruise.?

I had a 69 Sport Satellite no AC or Cruise with automatic that had a factory Holley the only different option was the manual tilt seat
loved that car and I was young and stupid and rolled it

69_900_assembly_carb.jpgThe 69 B body automatic (D32) without A/C (H11) 330 horse assembly is ENGINE (assembly) 900. That, typically, calls for CARB 38 or the Holley R4440. However, I have seen one BS listing a Carter. Unless you have the BS showing the Carter, I would go with the 4440.
