Correct Carb for 1971

What would be the correct carb for a 1971 Road Runner with a 383 and 4 spd and an air grabber? Car was built in Aug, 1970.

A 1971 Road Runner with a 383 with Air Grabber and four speed transmission, built in August of 1970 was originally equipped with a Holley R4734A four-barrel carburetor.


For all 1971 E-bodies and B-bodies with 383 high performance 4-barrel engines, the numbers are as follows:

1971 383 without fresh air, with manual transmission: Holley R4667A or R6191A
1971 383 without fresh air, with automatic transmission: Holley R4668A
1971 383 with fresh air, with manual transmission: Holley R4734A or R6193A
1971 383 with fresh air, with automatic transmission: Holley R4735A

Automatic cars have a distributor ground switch. Manual transmission cars have an idle speed solenoid which also has a ground switch on the plunger.

The 1971's with automatic AND Air conditioning also used the Holley R4668A, which also had an automatic thermostatic air bleed valve, to prevent hot soak condition at idle. I had a WP23N1A******* Dodge Charger 500....
