I was wondering if anybody would have any suggestions for me about the correct length of the pushbutton and parking brake cables for my '62-'65 A727 in a '62 Valiant. The engine is a 360 on Schumacher mounts.

I am now using the cables that came with the original slant 6/A904 combination, but they are too long. Despite my attempts to tie them up to the chassis, they hang down below the car and look Super Redneck.

I'm going to have new cables made by A and A Transmissions, which will have to be shorter, but how much shorter? Since it would be impossible to tell without disconnecting the old cables, it becomes a question of whether the car is going to be laid up for a long time until the new cables arrive or not.

I guess I was just wondering if somebody might know off the top of his head what the correct length of the transmission cables should be for a first-series Valiant small-block V8/727 conversion.

Also, can anybody tell me why the old cables for the slant 6/A904 combo are too long for my application? (Since the 904 is smaller than the 727, I was expecting that they would be too short.)

I know I should have asked this question on the FABO site, but then RustyRatRod would have told me how stupid I am, and I didn't want that.

Thanks a lot.

The original cables should be fine. Be aware that a 65 valve body and 62-64 use a different attachment at the valve body.
