This is the where the trunk seal would be. What is the correct way to fix these spots. The quarter panel is solid minus these areas. The bottom of rear window is also solid. Is the trunk rail area part of the new quarters? I don’t want to replace the entire quarters as they are 99% good.

Those pieces are separate from the quarters…

I would try and keep the one with the vin numbers on it….

I see rust holes above the gutter seam, and the front corners are a mess........ not horrible, but will require some fab work

it's a minor can of worms that could easily explode

For sure, I figured it may require some fab work. Just wanted to see what people’s opinion were. Thanks

It will seem like a HACK suggestion but it is quick, easy and cheap.
How long do you think that you'll live? Body filler often outlives US. If I live another 20 years, whatever filler I use today will still be there.
Let the next owner do the hard work.

Looks to me like only part of the rust is the area of the gutters. BOTH sides have holes in the overlapping quarters as well.

I would imagine that these rust spots are a bit larger when viewed from inside the trunk.

Probably and it’s not my car. Like others have said there is more work to do than just the rusted trunk gutters…my point was they are available and NOT part of the quarters.

and my point is that the rust is NOT part of the gutters. It's part of the quarter that overlaps the gutter and is spot-welded t the gutter. He, either needs to cut out the rusted metal and replace it or buy new quarters and, given what they already look like, new quarters may be the cheaper route.

But the other parts of the gutters are rusted. This is going blow through when blasted. I was never talking about repairing ALL the rust on the car so of course those pieces won't fix that areas nor will it fix the Dutchmen panel. I also told him I would patch that section to keep the numbers and see post #9 it's all covered.
