I am replacing my Harmonic Balancer and in the process of removing the crank pulley but as I try to remove the crank pulley/HB bolt the crank wants to rotate with it. Whats the best way to secure the crank to keep it from rotating? I can get hand tools in there but not my impact......its an automatic btw

Thanks! I got the HB bolt out. Question is the pulley press fitted on the crank? Its tight!

Got the pulley off ok....just tapped it with a dead blow.

The balancer is pressed on you will need a puller.
Another method to remove or better yet install the crankshaft bolt is to rotate the crank until one piston is down, then remove that plug and stuff the chamber with 1/4" rope.
When you tighten the balancer the piston will come up, press against the rope and viola you can torque it without rotating the crank.

Generally it is good practice to use tools to pull the damper off and push it on.
They can be damaged by hammering them.

Yup I am using a puller to remove and press fit the damper.
