Putting my crank timing chain sprocket on (1970 440) and it easily slides all the way on by hand. Feels snug though. Is that right? I’m used to beating chevys on with a socket. I guess the oil slinger and tc cover keeps it in place?

The balancer and crank bolt "keep it in place". BTW, you are right, BB Chevies and Cadillac's take 3 men and a boy to remove !!

Bottom line is, after timing chain is in place, how much play is in the chain. Besides it being timed right.

It’s nice and snug.
