just building my 440-505 stroker and i got a nice set of muscle motors cast aluminium valve covers.

they dont have any holes for filters or oil filler (710), they also do not have any baffles on the inside of the covers to stop oil splashing up.

my question is do i need to put crankcase filters on them? and if so do i need to weld in baffle plate to stop them filling up with oil?

motor has to breath.i have run a breather on the backside of the valley pan(behind the intake).just used a bolt in kit, from jegs i think, made for putting into valve covers.worked just fine.

You definitely want to have a breather on each side mimicking the factory placement. Baffles are nice to help oil splash from filling up the breather but you can run without baffles. You will just be chasing oil residue off the covers like me.
