Crazy horn problem

I think we are talking about the same thing only describing it in different ways. My understanding is that on the turn signal switch there is only a metal stud for the horn ring to contact and complete the ground. I was thinking that the horn ring (two metal plates sandwiched together with a small space kept apart by springs) is not staying separate like it should. If one spring is missing/broke it could cause that side to vibrate and thus close, open, close in a very fast sequence. Evan a es slight contact with the stud will cause the horn to "beep". When the car is not running, there is no vibration, and the problem disappears.

After I posted I saw that you have the problem solved. I would have bet some $$$ that the ring was going to be the problem. Still great that you don't have to listen to the horn anymore. Unless you like the "Beep, Beep". I know I do.

I'm not clear enough how the ring can be the problem. I understood how was chattering anytime and not trying to give horns.

just in case, I'm calling horn ring to this contact track down the steering wheel ( or collar adapter if the case ):

I can understand this horn ring failing chattering the horn just when giving horns, but not by itself grounding around without give horns
