I laughed out loud when I read the last sentence.
I’m a famous local metal head. I have the habit of getting excited and speeding when a classic comes on. One fine winter day I’m on the road to a job. Glare ice with about a half inch of powder snow on top. I’m cautiously picking my way along in a company van at about half the speed limit listening to The Boneyard (channel 38) on satellite radio. Judas Priest “Screaming for vengeance “ comes on. Aware of my problem I resolve to drive slowly and carefully.
By the time that the guitar solo comes around I’m sliding sideways down the highway, totally out of control, well over the speed limit.
True story.

Day dreaming down a hill in my 66 Charger listening to the Stones, not paying attention, I see a Hipo and look down to see 85mph in a 55. He chased me down and a plausible lie about a house fire I had just passed came to me. "Why didn't you pull into the campground back there and use the phone?" Duhhhhhhh, said the dumb kid.
HERE'S YOUR TICKET! Plus a warning ticket for improperly displayed license plate.
I pled not guilty and moved to Denver without going to Court. When I moved back, I knew there had to be a warrant, and it's always better to turn yourself in rather than get caught, so I called the clerk of courts. No speeding ticket on record, but a huge fine for failure to comply with the warning ticket. The Hipo must have missed court and the speeding ticket got dismissed, or he told the Judge my BS story and they dismissed.

Honestly... looking back they were gender neutral back then. As was Twisted Sister, Poison, Ratt, Cinderella and a few more I can't think of. I guess we should have taken that as a sign of whats to come.

I read both of bass player Nikki Sixxes autobiographies. Fascinating reading and I recommend them. I’m not, and never was a ‘Crüe fan, I was a hard core metal guy back then and many of us considered them glam, or haircut heavy metal. They were huge at the time, though.
The first book, The Heroin Diaries is about his time in Crüe and is a real eye opener about rock star excesses. It’s very raw and self deprecating. He was a real dink back then and admits it freely.
This is Gonna Hurt is about his life currently . Although EXTREMELY full of himself he paints an honest picture of his now more sober and responsible life.
If you’re a fan or If you like autobiographies I think you’ll enjoy the read. I did.
