Curious which you would prefer if you had either sitting in front of you in the same condition to restore?

Me, I prefer the 67 model for 2 reasons.
Although the 66 is the FIRST generation and first model ever the 67 had way less numbers produced, so its more rare to see. Second, there is nothing cooler than fender signal lights, I think they are so Mopar for the era and just love them around dust!

Didnt know they were different. Got a picture of a 66 steering wheel?

I like the 67 seats over the 66 as well

Lot of 1 year parts on either to drive crazy to find, pick your poison .

67 for me

But I'm biased ! for the parts I can't find I fabricate them or find replacement parts - 2014 Challenger seats, 2013 Challenger 6 speed, 2005 Magnum 5.7 Hemi

But I'm going custom . . .

Bump it to a 68 and you have a really nice car!

Nothing about the 66-67s are not nice in my opinion Kern.

68s are nice for sure, I just never was much of a sheep. I think the lines are awesome on the first gens myself,

Here is my steering wheel in my 67

I like the console that runs from front to back, length of the interior. Isn't that a 66 only option?

I'll tell you a few things that I do like about the 66-67 models: The gauges! Wow they look fantastic in those cars. I also like the full length console in the 66 cars. My opinion is that with the 66-67 Charger, they copied the styling of the AMC Marlin in the same way the 71 B bodies looked like the 68 GM A body Chevelle/Tempest?Cutlass cars...

Since your asking opinions and there is no wrong answer...
I prefer the coronets or the belvederes in 66 and 67. As for the second generation Chargers i will never be without a 68 in my stable....hands down favorite year for me...didnt know i was a sheep...

Some minor, mostly cosmetic differences between 66 and 67. The engines however are a different story. For the 318 engine, 67 had the new RA block version, both years had the 383 4 barrel option, 66 had a 361 2 barrel option that changed for the 67 models to a 383 2 barrel and both years had the 426 option available.
Big news for the 67 model year was the availability of the 440 Magnum engine @ 375 hp.
So....toss-up choice for either 66 or 67 if equipped with 318 or 361 or 383 2 barrel.
I'd go 67 if equipped with 383 4 barrel simply because 67 production numbers were less than half of 66. The 440 Magnum 67 gets my vote.

Console was optional in front for 67.

fender trim was slightly different.

Dual brake system new in 67, and the 440 was available.

67 standard three spoke steering wheel (not woodgrain) stays together better than 66 two spoke.

I actually prefer the 66 seat upholstery better on all B body cars.

Yeah, 67 here too. Didn't know you had the "finger slicer" there Old Dog. Only a few out there.

I like them both but I am partial to the 1966 Upholstery pattern and full length console, I wouldn't pass on getting a clean 1967 because of it though if presented the opportunity. I am partial to the 1967 B-bodies in all other styles besides Charger, just a matter of personal preference, they are all beautiful in my mind and seem better built than the 1968 and later cars in my experience.

I'm partial to 67's myself for a number of reasons, but I do like the full length center console found in the 66. Of course, one could always put a 66 console in a 67 if they really wanted too. Lord knows, I've seen plenty of 66's wearing 67 parts for similar reason.

2nd Gen's are cool and sexy, everyone knows that, but they rolled off the assembly line pretty much locked in and finished. They are what they are.
1st Gen's are more of an open canvas for anyone with a certain degree of imagination and artistic vision. The lines are there, the rest is all you...

I prefer '66s because the steering whell, console and seats pattern. And the fact that all came with console shifters this year. But '67 has the 440, fender signals and magnum wheels optionals!

You could get the fake woodgrain wheel in 67, it was an option. But most I have seen got either the recall wheel or the full horn wheel.
