Damaged tail shaft seal

Wanted to install the new tail shaft seal on my transmission. Unfortunately I slipped a few times while hammering it. Going to try it again tomorrow. Is it still usable without leaking like crazy?

I have a stash of old exhaust pipe, different sizes from 1" to 3",
kept 6"-ish long pieces, that I use to put seals like that in
put a lil steel plate or a board over the end & easy hammering, the seal home
work smarter not harder

should still work, if you have any doubt go get a new seal

I have a collection of bearing races just for that.

Probably OK but doing anything twice is a PITA so unless pressed for time I would get another seal.

Black pipe nipple correct size with a end cap, $10 or $15.
