Just looking to make sure I'm on the right track before I drop the cash.

I have a Dana 60 on my 69 RR. I don't know if it was an original b body Dana or if it was from another vehicle and adapted to the RR. I have not opened and inspected the carrier but I jacked the rear end up and spun the driveshaft... Rotates out to be 4.56 gear limited slip.

So I'm looking to change down to a 3.54 gear limited slip.

It appears that the carrier break is 4.10/4.56.

My understanding is that I will need to replace the carrier with a 3 series Spicer Trak Lok? Then just purchase a 3.54 ring and pinion (recommendations on brand?), carrier install kit (bearings, shims, ect..) and new axel bearings?

I'm going to have a shop do the work to change it out most likely, but I wanted to buy the parts myself. Is there any critical parts that I'm missing? Are all Dana axels all the same spline count? Is there anything I need to confirm inside the diff before dropping the cash?

Experience and advice is appreciated.

Since you are not 100% sure of the rear, i would get the spline count on the axles. Someone could have changed them. I have a 30 spline track lock carrier. If youre interested.

I got everything from strange for my Dana. Serise 3 carriers I belive go up to 410, I have a series 5 locker and the lowest I could go was 456

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input.

I'll open the diff this weekend and see what the spline count is.

There are 2 different sets of 4.10,4.30, and 4.56 gears available. One each for a 3 series carrier and one each for a 5 series carriers. Most 4.56 are 5 series but not all. 3.55 are 3 series only, 4.88 and up are 5 series only. So it's best to check first.

yep, dana's are a mess. gotta check first

if its a factory mopar rear, pre 70 is 23 spline axels. 70-71 are 35 spline

Use dana Spicer bearing and shim kit. Also buy Dana Spicer Ring and Pinion sets. Still made here. if its 23 spline then your going to have to scrounge for a used center section. They are available.
