Just that unit alone adds weight to the 60 but imo, it's worth it.....

I don't know...not to me it isn't. Not for a street car, anyway. Yeah, I got a 440, but it's pretty far from needing anything that insane. The prices people are asking for Dana 60 rears...yikes!

Perhaps if I had something REALLY disgusting under the hood...but even then, I couldn't see myself beating on my 68 hard enough to ever warrant a Dana 60.

Of course, if the car already HAD one...yeah, I'd be snobbing it up!

Yeah the 60 is the way to go...I have 60,s under my landcruiser rockcrawler...Now I don,t break stuff on the trail anymore..I have a truck 60 that will be getting the works for my GTX this winter..It,s cheaper to build on than to buy one for a b body..

Petty Blue 67 GTX

Yeah, I use truck housings too for all of my junk and since I don't use pinion snubbers anyway, a housing without the boss is fine with me. Now if I had a numbers matching car, then I might go for the correct housing but with the prices on the rise for 8 3/4 SureGrips, the Dana 60 really isn't that much more costly to build. The 'B' or 'E' body empty housings are just insane with the prices but I've picked up (no pun intended :D) truck housings for as little as 20 bucks!

Dana or not

For a street car the 8 3/4 is enough in my opinion. I am overbuilding my 64 for big power some day. Have about 550hp for the first motor, but some day I intend to up the power quite a bit.. Have a Strange built Dana 60 under my car and it cost a lot. Include the Chassis Works 4-Link and the cost would make you cry...
