Hello I am changing over to a Dana from a 8 3/4 on my 67 Coronet , is there an exact difference that the Drive Shaft will need to shortened. By looking at them on the floor, I am guessing the Danas drive shaft is shorter, If it is exact, I can get the Drive Shaft over to the shop ahead of time. If not , I will wait and measure after.
Thanks

Yes, the Dana needs to be shorter by about 1". That's not exact but it's pretty close. How much front yoke was sticking out of the trans when you had the 8 3/4 in it? I've seen them from the factory with too much before and a Dana would have made it perfect so if you had some excess, you may be ok with what you have. I like doing a mockup before cutting anything......you can always take some off but you can't put it back.

52.03" according to GGs white book which the info comes from the parts book. I believe the measurement is from center of U joint hole to hole but your drive shift shop will know for sure.

Just measure the distance AFTER you get done installing the Dana.... The driveline shop will tell you to do the same.
Drop the shaft off and then call with the measurement

When I did that swap I measured it as 1 1/10 inches less, and that's what the machine shop shortened it to. It worked just fine.
