dark grey k-member??

In reference to the later k member with skid plate and sway bar. I parted a 71 charger with 318 that had one. Build sheet confirmed skid plate and sway bar.

I just bought a bone stock original '62 Fury wagon, but I can't tell what color the K-frame is because of all the dirt and grease. I'll clean off a spot just for curiosity sake.
It came from the LA plant.

I have to wonder if they are just 50 year old faded satin black. Haven't you ever seen the chalk weathering turning paint white. It would be more pronounced on black. Try to get the paint wet, and see if it turns black or not? I have never seen anything else but a black crossmember.:eusa_think:

i took the k-member out of my 63 Fury partscar, and it was also grey; the paint under the boltheads was shiny grey, looked like new paint.
the transmission crossmember was also grey
