Hello all looking for some input on dash cap options.
I am going to install one on my 72 charger.
I have found 3 option to pick form,
Dashcap
Coverlay
Accufoam.
There is a thread on here where someone installed Dashcap. It looks great in the pictures by the way very nice job.
What I'm asking is has anyone installed Coverlay or Accufoam? the reason is price.
Dashcap is twice as much. I don't have a problem with paying more for better stuff.
Just looking input. Can't see the difference in quality from pictures.

Thank you

I did my dash with a cap a few years ago. I ended up taking a lot of time trimming, a little heat and more than the glue they give you to get it to turn out decent. The dash was out of the car so I could use many clamps and many pieces of wood to clamp it down here's the results in my 74 Rallye.

A close up of the label on the cap bag. Instead of DashCap brand, you might have meant DashTop? The others may be better. I have no experience on how well they fit. Dashtop by Palco is the ones I have used. Looking at the brands of caps you mentioned, they seem to all be made of the same material and process. When I bought mine, they were about $115. I wonder if one company makes them all. Anyway, I think the important part, no matter which brand you buy is the preparation. The old dash has to be smooth and it takes a lot of time trimming and test fitting the cap. I just did one for a 71 Challenger which is a lot more dash cap to work with. It turned out okay but it was hard to fit because of the shape of the dash. I could not stress the importance of using wood strips (1"x3" and 2"x 4" pieces) under the clamps where possible. Whichever cap you choose, please share your experience and results. Thanks.

Here's the one I installed in the Challenger a few months ago. It appears to puffed up in the middle of the top along the speaker hole. I spent hours fitting this and it's okay for what it is. The E-body caps are much larger and have that speaker hole right in the top center with a lot of cap plastic around it, which doesn't seem to fit right. Both Challenger caps I've done have just been okay. The Charger looks great.
