My 64 has the studs and the 65 pad I got off a coronet is push in style, I guess the factory used what they had at the time.
I still have the original metal "core thingy" for my 64 dodge and it's studs and was also built in Los Angeles, I'm stumped.
I'm not saying anyone is wrong or right. Who knows what the factory did back then. I'll look for and post a pic.
Ninja, no worries. I will post pics when I get a chance, it would be beneficial to all to see how the factory did some cars and did others another way.
I purchased this repo pad from a guy who parted out his 64 sport fury project.
new never installed. he said he got it about 10 years ago but did not remember the vendor's name.
I was going to dye it the color of my interior but have since changed my mind.
Looking at my car with the trim there is no way that pad would fit. Just not enough room. There are not any holes in the dash either for screws or clips to go. must have been a base interior without the pad. Still haven't made to storage to take a picture and post it.

My 64 Belvy never had a pad. No holes. Just the top of dash painted matte. A little darker than the red in the rest of the car too.
