Dash Pad Replace, Dash Shell In or Out of Car?

OK, I have to remove the windshield on my 1966 Coronet 2-Door Sedan. I also want to replace the dash pad. I have a new dash pad on order from Classic Industries.
Since I will have the windshield out, is it easier to replace the dash pad with the dash shell out of the car? Or should I leave the dash shell installed, pull the front seat, gauge cluster, and glove box and do the repair from below?

Lower the column, Remove the top dash frame windshield area bolts. Tip the dash and you can easily get the nuts.

I would just leave it together and replace the pad. It's not that bad.
Unless you've got another thing to fix or paint at the same time.

The windshield is out, so just remove the bolts at the lower windshield dash attachment points and loosen the bolts at the kick panels, then just tilt the dash toward the interior. It will rest on the column. The pal nuts can then easily be removed.

Gonna depend A LOT of how flexible you are. Ive done it in the past , when I was much younger
It can be done with dash in. But its A LOT easier with the frame out.
or maybe like mentioned, just roll it in back

I'm in the over 60 club. Flexibility is lacking for me. With this cold weather, flexibility is zero. When it warms a little, I'll probably rock the dash shell toward the steering column, reach through at the front window, and remove the speed nuts.

Good call, over 60 here too. If you want to try it with the dash in place, I recommend pulling the front seat so you have plenty of room to roll your tired old *** around under there.
