It never was a 8.50 car.
8.70s to 8.80s. And alot of 8.90s
Theres video of it and you will never see a 8.50 pass when it was in Michigan.

That RPM Performance Datalogger in that car was pretty elaborate but since then it was upgraded extensively.

This was Chuck from Best Machine's old car. It was a really nice consistent 8.5 all motor car.

That was with a 588 wedge.

I used to know a guy that overspent to buy a roller in 2004 that was going 8.50's,,,,put a 600+ ci engine in and could hardly go 8.6. He had been threatening to show up to a big MOPAR heads up race for years. He was finally intimidated to show up but.......the greatest NSS SUPERSTOCK racer of all time went out the 1st round on Saturday AND Sunday and cried the 10 hours it took to get home.

Looks like an Altimeter would be more use than a data-logger in that pic.

We use a cheap *** bubble sensor from McMaster Carr to kill power when it gets up that high.

Wouldn't you want to just shift up or gently lift so as to not crash the front suspension down?
Asking as someone who has never seen the sky on a launch, motorcycle included.
