New member from boston....hello all. First gtx and very excited!! I have quite a few questions concerning the car itself, I'll start with basics and apologize up front for duplicate questions in forum and elementary knowledge. First, I was told engines only got date stamped pre 68, how can people prove original numbers matching engine and tranny if only date stamped? I bought without fender tag or broadcast sheet thinking duplicates were fairly attainable. Apparently I was mistaken if you have neither. I have always loved these cars and not selling so not THAT worried. It's not a hemi convertible or investment grade but I would like to learn what options came with her or should be here but aren't. I know I can get a build card from chrysler historical but not same as something from glovier. Any comments help criticism welcomed!

Chryler Historical has records for 1967 and before so you should get those. That will offset the missing fender tag and build sheet,

Excellent thanks. I saw on their website, they actually state the info they supply is a "build card" and not a build sheet. So I don't think it will help to get a replacement fender tag but at least will be good for info and personal records

you get a build card...it can be decoded so a fendertag can be made....I did both with my 67 R/T....I have no info on who can do a build sheet off the fendertag or build card.....it's a 3 step process to get a fendertag...new owners are more reasonable if the car has a tag but missing a build sheet as they are hard to find and read after 50 years of rotting...plus the info sheet on the car is neat also

Welcome aboard and thanks from joining the forum!
VERY NICE CAR!

PS: I'm originally from RI.
Go Boston Red Sox, Go Briuins, Go Celtics and go Pats !

Thanks guys, getting the engine and tranny rebuilt now, then it's getting stripped and painted. I'll keep you posted on progress!

Welcome from Alaska TBone! Great looking car and congrats on your new love. This is Mopar University with a tremendous amount of knowledge to share. I am also a newbie and soaking up everyting I can from these professors. Send more pics as you rebuild.

Welcome Tbone!

Nice ride. What engine and trans? Also do a good search for the build card. Under the bottom part of the seat. Back of the back seat. You never know it might still be there.

Thanks guys, it has the 440 super commando with A727 torqueflight. I know they are properly date coded, but hesitate to say numbers matching as these were only date stamped. Still confused on how others can say it! And more pictures as engine and tranny are completed

I think what they are actually saying is that the engine and transmission were always manufactured before the car body. If you find an engine date code that is AFTER the body date, it's defenitely not original.Good luck with the project, and welcome to the forum!

We pre-68ers are blessed! We're all #s matching! You just need your production date which chrysler can supply.

Welcome to FBBO T.bone! That's a sweet looking ride you have there. I'm partial to GTXs as I have a 68. This site is the best on the net for support for b bodies.

Got the engine and tranny pulled today! Ugh, parts are back-ordered, hope this isn't going to be the norm for parts, luckily I don't need many right now but I think a wiring harness is pretty important!

Great looking X! I'm a fellow 67 owner, I've had two over the years; a belvedere II and currently a Satellite. Wish mine was a GTX! I found my broadcast sheet in the driver side seat. I've heard of them being in the back seat as well, though. As was said above, do a good search, if you can find that it will help you out. Welcome aboard. And have fun!!!
