Daytona Charger Project in mind but….

1969 Daytona uses 1970 Charger fenders

1970 Superbird uses 1970 Coronet fenders

interesting......... 70 Charger fenders existed for the 69 build year?...... the Daytona's were obviously a late build in 69?

I think the designs and tooling was built around 18 months to 2 years before production started....just something I read a long time ago.

One thing to consider is how far you want to go in making it a Daytona "clone." Planning to just do the nose and wing, or the rear window too. I built one using all of Janak's parts, and found a Charger 500 back glass. If you do the "fastback" rear window you will need either a fiberglass plug or some have used a Vega hatchback with modifications. You will also have to fabricate/modify the decklid, and fabricate hinges. I think hinges were being made a few years back, but not sure now.

Birdsong has a video where he is using a Vega hatchback it’s pretty close

I’m confused, which would I need? I’m getting answers for both lol. Am looking to build a Daytona not a Superbird.
If you are getting serious about this Daytona clone build, PM me and I can give you details of what I did, and I still have all of the reference measurements/pics of Daytonas I used to do mine. Including how I got the pop up lights to work.
