I decoded my 383 block. It came out of a 69 Sport Satellite, is stamped E383 on the ID boss indicating a 69 383, the casting date is 11-26-68, and the other ID boss number is for a 69. Under those numbers is a capital letter "P." According to the book, the P stands for "premium" gas. What else would that tell me about this engine? Thanks in advance. I like this kind of research.

The P tells you it was a 4bbl car.
No HP on the pad tells you it came with an automatic so it was a 330 horse engine.
The VIN pad will tell you what plant it came from.

Is there an HP stamped on the pad? My guess this was originally a 330 HP engine. However, those may not get an HP stamp but I can't say for sure.

Thanks

Thanks folks. No HP on it and I don't have the car it came out of. Long story involving a crooked individual. I now have two 383 blocks. The other is a 68 and the one I posted about is a 69. I had the 69 and got the 68 for my 68 Charger which had no motor. Again, thanks.
