Decoding the Sequence Numbers of your Vin

Can someone explain to me how you decode the last 6 numbers of your vin? From the research I have done so far the last 6 numbers of your vin is the sequence number but that is all the information I can find. The last six of my vin is 268792. Any help is much appreciated.

it means that your car is the 168,792 car built at that particular plant

 

[69Coronetrt]

It means your VIN is the 168792nd VIN number assigned at that plant for that year. The VIN is an administrative function and unrelated to production sequence. Your car could have been built hours, days or weeks ahead or behind cars 268791 and 268793.
