What is the best thing to use for a piston stop when the heads are already on the motor? I plan to degree in the cam soon, and I need to make a positive piston stop. RPM heads
They work great that's how I made mine, one thing I would recommend is to grind the end round so it doesn't mark the pistonMade my own piston stop in this thread. I'm just trying to think how it would work for degreeing a cam. Wouldn't you need the piston at true ttd.

That's a great tool! I'm going to make one. The RPM heads already have the long reach plug, so I will prob need to use a longer bolt. You have to find # 1 TDC and mount your degree wheel so the pointer points to zero on the degree wheel. Then use a dial indicator to check the lift at the lifter. So if your intake center line is say 110, then you want the lifter to be at the same height at 30 degrees before 110, as it is 30 degrees after 110. You can use any # of degrees, but they need to both be the same. So the dial indicator would read say .300" lift at 80 degrees, (30 before ICL) and .300" at 140 degrees. (30 after ICL) So the centerline of # 1 intake lobe would be at 110 degrees. This is how I understand it.Made my own piston stop in this thread.
