I did some tune up stuff today and noticed the accell pump seems to be delayed when I move the throttle, if I manually move it while giving it throttle the response is much better. You can see it in the short vid below, the delayed part is seen right at the beginning.
Is the pivot point supposed to be oblong?
If the delay is intentional is this something people modified back in the day for better response?
Car is a 69 Coronet with a 318.

How does it squirt? Possible dirt in the squirters or check weight stuck.I would pull the top and inspect the pump and spring. I used to stretch the spring for better response.

The delay is not intentional. Is there any "slop" in the accelerator pump arm/rod/etc? If yes, maybe you can slightly bend the rod to take out that slop

Last I looked it seemed fine, the nozzle is aim at just one barrel tho, seemed to me it should be aimed at the wall between barrels to splash at both but I left it alone.
I'll see if I can pop the top off it.

The only slop I noticed was from the pivot point, but I looked at some other pics and it seems the oblong part is intentional. I'll go check for other signs of slop.

Well this was educational. I've only opened one of these before and that was in like 1996. I wrongly assumed the pump should be pushed down by the arm, but it seems all it does is ease off so the spring can push it down. Now stretching the spring makes more sense.
I also see I should have two streams, one per barrel but one seemed blocked. Took it apart and cleaned the passage and yet it still doesn't squirt out of that side, it seems both are fed from a common plenum and both holes are clear, yet fuel only squirts out one of them, if I block the good one I still don't get fuel out of the other. Triple checked its not clogged, any ideas?

I also stretched the spring but I still see the delay, I'm guessing because of that weird squirter that won't flow.

There has to be something plugging it or else it would squirt.

I'm inclined to agree, I took it out twice, blasted cleaner thru it, saw it go thru, grabbed one bristle from a wire brush and saw it go in one end and out the other, into the common feed that the working squirter is fed from. The most I see from it is a dribble. Maybe next weekend I'll poke it again. Also maybe there is something else messed up letting pressure out that I can't see with my less than stellar vision.

The squirter might be clear, but ensure that the gasket isn't blocking a hole when you reassemble it.

The slow delayed action is most likely due to the discharge restriction. If it cant discharge the pump itself will be slowed down. Your video clearly shows the pumps discharge slowed down. Dig deeper there is something on the discharge that's causing the lack of fuel squirt.

I’m thinking the spring under the plunger is incorrect ( too strong ) or the spring on the accelerator pump itself is too weak or damaged. I see when you keep your finger off the lever it doesn’t descend when you open the throttle.
