it takes this thing more than 15 minutes and have to stay with it to make sure it doesn't get half way through and then shut down.

This sounds like a medical problem.

How does a person edit a post?

That "Edit" is there for a short time after posting - I can't remember how long for regular members.....maybe an hour ...maybe a day..... but it disappears for members soon after the post is made.
Contact a Mod if you cannot see that and you want something altered.
Hitting the Report button is the best way to summons assistance.
