Dewinged and nosed Superbirds

I went to look at a FY1 car around 1980 or so, it had a Sat/RR front end. Still had wing, rear glass. I'll never forget how the guy told his girlfriend "That's how my cars supposed to look." I was driving my Lemon Twist 'bird, his car was for sale.

Saw a red 69 charger with flush rear window and short decklid in a field in tn in 90's. No dash or vin ID I could see but had regular nose on and had black plugs on rear quarters where wing would have been. Looked to have been that way a long time

My Superbird had its wing taken off by the owner of the dealership it was sold new at. The original owner, then 19-year old Mr. Aguilar, bought the car, knew what it was ( the nose was still on it ) and told the dealership to put the wing back on....... You can see where the paint on the top of the quarter around the wing base is fading away. The rest of the car still retains its original paint...

There is a de-nosed 'Bird here in OKC. It was an ISCA showcar during the late '70s through the late '80s. It hsd the fancy never-driven show paint, chromed brake drums, and a whorehouse interior...and retained the wing and window. It was bought by a local guy after it did its show duties. The original owner sold the nose assembly to the current owner. He intends to restore the car back to stock. Haven't seen the car in15 years, but I know it still exists locally. Have to get pics of the car. IIRC, it's a 440 4 bbl car.

That may have been the one I saw way back when. It was for sale at the time, FY1 4bbl bench car!

There was one in a magazine article years back, I want to say MPG and it was blue - only indication was the A-pillar trim.

Ok, kids, here is the OKC ISCA showcar today. It was at Cars-n-Coffee. Parked for over 20 years, it had to be eased out of its outdoor prison. Originally Orange, the car was hit in the front in 1976, which damaged the hood, outer fenders and nose beyond repair, and also bent up the core support. At that point, normal Belvedere fenders, hood, bumper and related parts were sourced and installed, and the change to custom began. The inner fenders are original to the car. I had heard wrong about the nose, as I had previously posted. It had coats and coats of lacquer blue and clear, and the paint is thick!

Here it is today. The wing had been restored, and the engine and trans rebuilt. It is a real Superbird.

I wonder why they didn't put 70 parts on the car when it was damaged in 1976. I'm sure they were easily available from the dealer, unless they just went to a junkyard to get the cheapest parts that would fit and they found a 69.

Couldn't tell you. It was far cheaper to replace with the '69 parts, I'd bet money. Plus, the nose and other bits were probably NS1 by 1976.

Don't have the owners permission, but it is the real thing. Unless I own a car, I don't share VINs or tags, anyway.

Remember, it was "transformed" not because Plymouth "couldn't sell the car", it was because of accident damage six years after it left the lot.

Twelve miles from me is a Tor Red bird with a Belvedere front end that was drag raced regularly that has not moved for over 30 yrs,can't remember if it still had the wing.
