Hi Folks,
whats the difference between the park lamp (wire L6-18BK/Y*) and the side marker lamp (wire L17-18DGN*) in terms of activation? Shouldnt both be activated at the first position of the head lamp switch and therefore more or less be the same?

My car is a 68 Coronet 4 door sedan and i cant try it because its totally ripped apart.

Thanks a lot.

Dieter

They are on two separate circuits.

Yeah. But the question is, when are these circuits activated? At which head lamp switch position or key switch position or so?

I would imagine they come on in the park position but possibility the headlamp position. Did they work before? What is your concern?

You have labeled them wrong. Park lamp and marker lamp the same circuit, black wire.

The turn signal is the green wire one side, brown on the other side.

A black and green both run to the the park/marker lamp in the bumper. The bulb has 2 filaments and is brighter on the turn signal side. Look at you lamps and you will see 2 wires in the pigtail. The ground is through the bumper, there is no wire for ground.

No that is not right. 68 side marker goes to the dash light dimmer switch terminal which and is piggy backed to the headlamp switch R terminal. The park light circuit comes off the headlight switch on the P terminal. Wires are not the same color.

OK I don’t have a 68 wiring diagram. Sorry for the wrong info.

I suppose it depends if the park light stayS on with the headlight, or go off. Some cars are different.

Up to 68 the front parking lamps were turned off when you turn on headlights but sidemarkers kept on, hence the reason why sidemarkers ( along with rear Parking lamps ) and front parking lamps were wired independently.

checking the diagrams MyMopar got ( which doesn't get the full wire and circuits codes, but just the color label ) just found:

Dark green wire with trace is just for front parking lamps

Black wire with trace, sidemarkers.

Dark green wire with trace shuts off as soon headlights turn on. Black wire with trace keeps on in both light switch positions

Thank you for your answers!

@Nacho-RT74 this is exactly what i wanted to know. But i think you got the colours mixed up.
- Parking Light are black-yellow trace
- Side Markers are dark green-white trace

I also look at the diagrams from MyMopar.

Yeah well, checked and is true, I mixed up the color codes, but you got what I meant LOL

Just make sure your switch is a '68-'69 version (5 terminal). In 1970 MoPar went to a 4 terminal switch and wired the tail lights, front parking lights, and the side marker lights together on the back of the switch (R terminal).

Eeeehm... as far I know switch is the same but with a jumper wire or somekind of splice somewhere linking both together between front and rear parking lights? That's what diagrams show at least for 69.
