I have a 62 Dart w/slant 6 and auto tranny.
My question is: how can I tell what size
engine is in it? I know there was a 170 cu. in.
and a 225 cu. in. I'm looking at rebuilding it
and don't want to get the wrong parts.
Thanks for any help.
Bill

I think there was a 198 cu. also or something like that, but I am not an expert on "The Leaning Tower of Power" engines.

Numbers stamped on the block should indicate what you have.

The 198s were much later. The way to tell by looking is the little hose between the head and water pump. On a 170 it's so short (how short is it) It's SO short that it cannot be installed if the head and water pump are in place. One has to come off to install it. The 225 has enough room due to the taller block

Now we know ! , how much later was it for the 198s ?

1970 maybe? Doesn't mean yours could have been changed. They also went to hydraulic cams eventually. Also lost the spark plug cups
