Sure it's a plan! It is an old car... the inspector probably mainly cares to do his job right. Sounds like something any self-respecting Viking would do!
I know that it's frowned upon to fake yourself through inspections but when rules force you to make the car less stock and less what it looked like 45 years ago - I'm sure as h*ll will fake it and then restore it to stock directly after the inspection :/
I will agree. Here in Virgnina, when you have a car older than 25 years old, you can register it as an antique vehicle. When you do that, you certify that that the car is fully operational to the standards it met when it was new, and that car is no longer subject to insepction. That is just good commonsense policy, IMO.
I fixed it to meet Swedish regulations. I lifted one cable off the parking light so it only flashes. Used the unused cable to hook up a led-parking light which I mounted in the front fender using one of the holes already available so I made no permanent modification to the car. Then I just ran a cable from the - on the battery under the radiator and split it to the two new led-lights. It actually doesn't look that bad but I'll still remove it after inspection. Now following works:
Parking lights (white) on when light switch in park or light mode
Flashers orange and works both emergency flash and turn signals
No combination causes only front or rear of car to light up
Took a while to figure it out, but now when it's done it will zip through inspections on wednesday. Or so I hope.
I guess you could try to get them to fit but then again - the car won't have it's stock look in the front which I really would like to keep. I'll post a picture once I've mounted the lights
