I am needing to replace the proportioning valve on a 1969 Charger. This is supposed to be a factory front disc/rear drum car but recently determined that my master cylinder was for a drum/drum car. Didn’t think much of it but when I started looking for the proportioning valve that matches the one that was on the car everything I seem to find shows this to be a drum/drum proportioning valve. Anyone out there know if what I have is in fact for a front and rear drum application?? See below pics.

So would this proportioning valve be ran on both a disc/drum and drum/drum application?
It was designed for drum/drum. I am not sure with drum/disc. When I had my Dana 60 built by Cass aka Dr. Diff we discussed my set up. He supplied me with a non-power master and said run what you got and see how it works. If there was a proportional problem he said to install a rear adjustable control valve. I had no issues and it stops great. I am not sure on the drum/disc , but it might be ok.

Got it. Looking at this further I guess what I have is “distribution block” not a proportioning valve. Getting this crap right is frustrating lol.

That is a pressure differential valve. It has nothing to do with rear brake proportioning. If that is the only valve in your brake system then it is a drum brake car. I know you had a drum brake master cyl., so it all makes sense.

It is a safety valve. Most call it proportioning. Me included. The valve you have is used in the drum/disc configuration. On the drum/disc another smaller vale was added and it is the actual proportioning valve.

This is what I pulled off the car and it has been on there for a while.

Thanks. Do you know where the smaller valve would be added? There is another smaller “block” just down on the frame rail that the front line ties to then the rear line runs off of it. Is that what you are referring to?

Sounds like thats the valve. So you have most all the right parts.

Both of those same proportioning / hood off valves are on my OEM 70 front disc car & your rotors look like 70 rotors. Was it a late 69 build?
