Distributor

I'm working on my 1950 dodge pickup. I picked up a 318 with a 904 out of a 70 dart to put in it. Could I take a electronic distributor out of mid 70s car along with the box off the firewall and use that. I could buy the kit from jegs for 250.00 but I have access to some parts cars.
