For a 440 eng, with 4speed.give me names and what type of valve springs and rockers for a combination.

I'm thinking about using a Comp Cams Xtreme Energy Hi-Lift XE275HL. It's 525 lift and 275 / 285 duration and a 106 centerline. This one is a hydraulic but the solid version is very similar. I'm also going with a stroker motor and aluminum heads. I'd go with all Comp Cams stuff because it's all made to work together. The rockers I'm using are Harlan Sharpe roller rockers.

What application? If for street / strip use I have used the MoPar .528" / 284. This cam has great street manners and put a 3700 lb 383 powered B body into the high 12's. Dual springs are required but I don't recall the seat pressure. Maybe 120 - 130 lbs.

how is the idle on this cam meep?where can i by this cam?can i buy it as a kit? thanks

In my 383 the idle was a mellow rumble - like a street hemi with a little more lupety-lump to it. Not bad at all. And the best part is the idle vacuum was not in the toilet. Made great power too. You can get it at Summit. As for springs call Summit and ask for the MoPar part number. That cam does require a dual spring but I can't remember the P/N. You will also want to run some deep gears with it like 4.10's and it likes a single plane intake. I had 4.88's in my 383 RR.

the 284-.528 is a very good cam. good manners and mopar did offer a single spring for it. i use an engle k65 in my '65 coronet; 440, automatic, six-pak. this is a pleasant camshaft with no bad manners; a little less cam than the mopar .528. i've got an extra k65 if interested.

Best advise I can give you is to call Dwayne Porter who is one very good Mopar head and cam guy. He custom grinds cams that he specs to the combo. I use a solid flat tappet he speced for my 63 and I am very happy with how it works. Just like I told him I want a slight lump to the idle and I want to make alot of power and it does both. If you would go that way just let me know as I have his phone #. Ron
