My build sheet under my back seat does not match my car. Serial # is ***980 My serial # is ***987. 1967 GTX. I have been told there are 2 sheets in the car. One guy says there is another under the carpet in the rear of the car and another says there is a second in the back of my front seat. I don't want to pull up carpet or take the seat apart unless it may be there. Has anyone heard of this or know for sure if a second one exists ?

There may be more than one in the car. Check underneath the front seat, feel over the top of the glove box, check the rear of the front and back seat (it's not that hard to get to especially to find a BS). There may be one under the carpet. There is also no guarantee there is a second sheet or that one matches your car either but happy hunting.

I was always told that there was only 2 with each car. One under the back seat and the other one in the trunk.

Do I need to check other places for them?

You need to also consider the human factor. Who knows what the guys on the line were doing the day your car went through. One guy could have been going through a divorce, the next guy hung over, the guy after that playing a joke. Find the one that matches the VIN and burn the rest.

Why would you Burn it?
Plenty of others looking for the one that matches his or her car!
And if his does not have the correct one he could be looking for his as well.

I found 5 build sheets in my car. Two under the front carpet, one on each side. The PS side had some water damage but the rest are in good shape. One under the front bench, one under the rear seat and one above the glove box liner. I never thought there would be so many in a car. It's just a 66 Coronet 440. Nothing with a bunch of options.

It's always a crapshoot.

Could be zero from the factory.

Could be removed by a previous owner.

Could be one- either correct or not.

Could be many, and in many different places.
The most likely places have already been posted.

There were six in my 73 Satellite.

Under rear seat- One incorrect, but called for same interior.
Under front seat- One correct.
Under front seat- Four with odd notations for working on the assembly line, including a test print for a "do not build" 1972 Charger.

My car didn't have any, I wonder is someone burned mine when they found it in their car.

Ok. mis-spoke, disregard them. If you have the time to help re-unite somebody with a build sheet, you have too much time on your hands.

I found 2 in my Charger, One was in the springs on the back side of the rear seat upright and the other one was under the front passenger carpet.

the one under the carpet was set in some undercoating and pretty much unreadable but we put it in a parts bin and let the fluid run on it, occasionally lightly brushing it with a small paintbrush and, after about 2 hours, it came out reasonably clean and readable. It was definitely for my Charger as was the one in the rear seat upright springs!

Had two under the rear seat in my car. Talking to guys that worked at various plants nothing is absolute. When they were out of one engine paint they would use another.

I found 3 in my Pontiac, and none in my original 66 Charger.....
