Do you listen classical music ?

Sadly here where I live, there's not a single radio station that play this kind of music, only modern music and Mexican popular, and I hate that music.

Pandora is free. There are lots of ways to listen online.

I liked the music in the cartoons as a kid but did not distinguish genres then. I took a music appreciation course at college and was introduced to quite a few genres and composers. Lots of film soundtracks include classical music. 2001: A Space Odyssey, for example.

One of my favorite American Composers is Aaron Copeland.

I listen to it almost daily. CBC plays classical from 9am to 1pm every weekday.

We only have one decent radio station in our area for any form of music, and that's the local College Station. The rest of them proudly broadcast prerecorded MP3 noises which are just nails on a chalkboard to my ears! How can people listen to that shite... it sounds like music being played through a running chain saw.
Fortunately, those stations do not play Classical. The College station does however, normally from vinyl or CD.

Of course, the best way to hear classical music is live in a music hall designed for it. I guess headphones with high bit rate source would be second best.

For those who have never been to a live performance, it is nothing short of incredible. Even a very small orchestra is EXTREMELY Dynamic, which is why it's so difficult to capture the performance accurately on any recording medium. The difference between soft and loud is simply too great. On top of that, you would need a world class stereo to reproduce it with any sense of accuracy & believability.
Classical music is something that has to be experienced live to be truly appreciated, especially opera. My daughter had somewhat of an appreciation for classical, so I took her to see a small local group at a theater in town. The experience was nothing like she had expected it to be. We walked out of the theater after the performance, and her first words were HOLY SH**!!! Needless to say, she had a great time.

Totally agreed. Nothing quite makes it like a live performance. I wish I had been able to witness this concert...

I know I’m repeating myself - but you guys should try and take in the Pavarotti documentary on Netflix - even better if you can put on the surround sound. I saw it recently at the theater. Fantastic.

I listen to all music, but, old rock, southern swamp and motown is what I'm all about . Joaquín Rodrigo is amazing and these boys aren't bad either.

I do not like opera. I prefer the pure voices of the instruments.

Love it now, hated it when I was a kid. My dad was in the local symphony orchestra so we would go every year to see them at Christmas concert. He was always listening to classical records and it drove me crazy, but it must have been burned into me because I started liking it in college when i took some music classes. My dad got his music degree late in life and was a great help to me when I started writing music about 20 years ago and I am still listening and learning.

My grade school took us on a field trip to the OKC Philharmonic for a performance of Peter and the Wolf. You can show it to your kids on YT. It's a great way to introduce youngins to classical music and orchestra.

I agree, it's a great way to introduce them to the classical, there's also, from Tchaikovsky, several versions for kids of the nutcracker and the lake of the swamps.

Yes indeed, Disney also have classical for the kids, I know some of my generation and not to say my dad's generation ( you guys) are/were concern for us when we where kid's to listen to the classic masters, concern that I cant see nowadays.

I had Peter And The Wolf as a child.
Another one I enjoyed was Flight Of The Bumblebee.
Must have been on an LP with other selections.
